About meHi! Mi nombre es Maria Gonzalez, I am your Spanish teacher.
I'm born and raised in the wonderful Zulia State in Venezuela. "Land of the beloved Sun". Imagine living in a place where it feels like Summer season all year LONG, where you can take a tour and observe the natural atmospheric phenomenon Catatumbo Lighting, enjoy multicultural festivities in the community like the Chinita festival, Holy week, Carnavals, all the amazing Fireworks display in December, eat our famous AREPAS or Pabellon criollo and dance to the rhythm of Gaitas, Tambores, Vallenato and Salsa at every gathering. So many things to do in my beautiful VENEZUELA! My teaching experience began at an early age. My grandfather and my Mother was the principal and founder of a school k-12. I felt deeply curious and passionate about education I decided to take a dive and observe classrooms upon High school graduation. I found myself co- teaching, mentoring, tutoring, learning from other teachers and helping professors with planning and assessing. I loved being creative, surrounding myself with students, the relationships I gain and being there for the most needed. I did not take too long to realize that I had found my call and my passion. I knew that becoming an Educator and having the power to lift young minds was who I needed to be. I have to say, I learned from the best! So far, I've been teaching for 10 years. I have a License Degree in Early Childhood Education from University Alonso de Ojeda from Venezuela. A year later from graduating, I pursued my Master's Degree in International Education from Framingham University. I have also lead Dual Language Immersion programs and worked at International Schools teaching Spanish and English for students from all over the world. Looking back, I have saved so many beautiful memories from my students. To the new group I will meet: I truly believe you will be successful if you practice and believe in yourself. Embrace the Spanish that comes from you. Learning a new language requires a lot of repetition and it's commulative. I f you don't use it, you LOOSE it! With my help in class, I will provide the necessary tools, promote collaboration, active learning, reward you with positives encouragements in return of you practicing each day at home. So what do you say? Let's get busy and learn Español. |
